Africa is the future, it is always said, often in the Sunday speeches of association representatives and company bosses. Unfortunately, it is not already the present, the managers in the export departments may think. Especially not in textile machinery, sales to Africa are low.

So how should sales be set up on a continent that is twice the size of Europe and promises a lot of effort with little return? Lutz Vogel has been selling flat knitting machines from STOLL and Adam Stevenson knitting machines from KARL MAYER in Africa for many years. In this interview with Ulrich Binkert, employee at Germany Trade & Invest, the two sales professionals, who have been part of the same group of companies since 2020, talk about their very own model with local partners.
