The Kent State University School of Fashion is one of the top educational institutions in the US fashion industry. It educates around 1600 fashion design and merchandising students, focusing on creativity, self-confidence and real-world testing. In addition to teaching traditional college students, other who are interested in testing out knitting are supported as well. The School of Fashion works with training and development for companies, entrepreneurs and individuals who are looking to explore opportunities in knit production and programming.

In all cases, practical relevance is important. An internship is also part of the course, as is access to unique resources, including various maker spaces such as the Knit LAB. The knitting lab provides know-how about the various knitting techniques. The youngsters can also develop their own products, using four industrial knitting machines from STOLL in particular.
