Heroes of lightweight construction

Non-crimp fabrics produced on multiaxial machines made by KARL MAYER Technical Textiles - a must-have for lightweight construction Learn more

Small weight, big performance: multiaxial fabrics are essential for lightweight construction. Like all reinforcements in composites, they absorb the forces acting on the components made from them, but offer special advantages. In contrast to woven fabrics, the reinforcing yarn layers are stretched without undulation and aligned straight onto each other in the textile structure. This allows the optimal utilisation of tensile yarn strength in any direction of strain.

In addition, for fixation the reinforcement yarn layers fed are pierced by sharp needles and interlaced one with another by means of interlacing yarn in a warp knitting process. This non-course-oriented integration of the yarn leads to direction-oriented structures without gaps and thus to even better mechanical properties.
