In keeping with its title, this extraordinary design series focuses on the many facets of the night that have fascinated humans since the beginning of their existence. Coarse gauge knits such as the sophisticated blanket poncho „Shadow Blanket Poncho“and the extravagant „Oversized Coarse Dress“ are particularly suitable for the cold season.

Shadow Blanket Poncho
This sophisticated coarse gauge fashion item can be worn as a wrap, scarf, cape or dress and symbolises the duality of the night with its striking double-sided knit construction. The two layer float jacquard structure in a block stripe design creates the look of coarse gauge woven texture, while fine lurex spreads starry hints of colours in the knitted base. Different float lengths in the jacquards form an allover independent geometric pattern. Two colour float jacquard intarsia areas offer slits that enable multiple ways to wear the blanket. A seamless needle bed transition on one side allows the knitting width to be doubled, resulting in an impressive size of 140 × 210 cm.
Oversized Coarse Dress
This coarse woman‘s dress shows a handcrafted yet elegant geometric design reminding of astronomical constellations.
A subtle two colour vertically striped float jacquard adds texture and sparkle as a sophisticated contrast to the coarse crocheted yarn.
Following this method of contrasting extremes, dropped stitches in the centre front form a delicate neckline detail that adds elegance and lightness to the oversized slipover-inspired shape design with deep armholes.
The stylish design highlight was knitted on a CMS 520 ki C multi gauge in gauge E1.5.2, in full fashion on all needles and using the 1:1 technique.
Sophisticated technology for coarse knit structures
Knitted fabrics with an ultra coarse gauge and hand-knitted look are a must for every winter season. The CMS 520 ki C from STOLL easily covers the gauge range between E1.5 and E4.
The innovative flat knitting machine works with two systems, 4L needles, closed spring-loaded sinkers (except E3) and STOLL-multiflex® take-down systems to produce the chic rustic knitwear, as well as deep gores and pocket bags.
These technical details in particular make it easier to knit fancy yarns, such as knop yarn or sequin yarn, expanding the scope of creative possibilities.
The STOLL multi gauge technology offers even more design potential. This feature for greater flexibility makes it possible to knit at different gauges within the same pattern or even within a single row—all on one machine.
The special 4L needles optimise working with coarser stitches and multi-thread yarns.
The CMS 830 ki C is the machine of choice for the production of ready-made articles in a coarse style. This all-rounder produces a wide range of knitwear and garments in small and extra-large sizes, with a working width of 84‘’/213 cm, three systems and STOLL-multiflex® take-off.
